Catalyst, a San Francisco startup building autonomous AI trading agents for retail investors, raised a $30M Series A led by Sequoia Capital. SF1, Selini Capital, Jump Trading, Peak XV Partners, Lux Capital, AntiFund, Coinbase Ventures and Premji Invest also participated. **Positive Context:**

- Users connect brokerage or crypto exchange accounts through API keys, and the agents design, backtest and execute strategies within risk limits the user sets. A human must accept each strategy before it runs.

**Yes, but:**

- No valuation or user count was disclosed, and the pilot covered only power traders, so performance with everyday investors is unproven.
- The company has to show its platform cannot be used like a casino or gambling app, at a time when prediction markets and crypto are going mainstream.

**TypeSafe AI (US)** – $870M, Series A at a $7.5B valuation, AI models for structured software decisions, founded by Diogo Almeida, Erik Gafni, and Sasha Sheng. Andreessen Horowitz led alongside Sequoia Capital. Its Jev model returns scores and choices, not chatbot monologues – [The Investor Society](https://www.theinvestorsociety.com/typesafe-raises-us-870m-at-us-7-5b-to-put-ai-inside-software-not-chat/)

**Hone (US)** – $60M, funding round at a $285M valuation, autonomous AI systems called "Engines" that take ongoing responsibility for business outcomes such as revenue growth and cost reduction. Benchmark led and Index Ventures co-led, with Elad Gil, Hanabi, Definition and Diffusion also in. Co-founders Moritz Stephan, Oliver Brady and Carlo Kobe are building software that embeds in a company to learn its processes, a bit like an employee who never takes lunch – [FinSMEs](https://www.finsmes.com/2026/10/hone-raises-60m-in-funding-at-285m-valuation.html?ref=theinvestorsociety.com).

**Reuse (Chile)** – $21M, Series A, refurbished electronics platform that connects by API to retailers' and brands' trade-in programs. At One Ventures led. The company counts Falabella, Samsung and Coppel as customers, resells devices at up to 30% off with a 13-month warranty, and operates in Chile, Peru and Mexico. **Flai (US)** – $27M, Series A, AI dealership communications and appointment-booking platform founded by Uruguayans Ari Polakof, Alen Polakof, and Juan Alzugaray. Base10 Partners led, joined by Toyota Ventures and First Round Capital. ## 🏛️ Private Equity

**Scanntech / L Catterton (Uruguay / Brazil)** – about $180M, growth equity round, with half primary capital and half secondary. L Catterton leads, with Partners Group and Bradesco joining. Warburg Pincus, which invested $40M in 2023, is selling part of its position while keeping exposure. **Rocscience / Hexagon (Canada / Sweden)** – $535M enterprise value, sale by TA Associates, software that models how rock, soil and structures behave for mining and civil engineering. TA first invested in June 2023 and fully exits at closing, expected in Q4 2026\. Rocscience was founded in 1996 at the University of Toronto by Dr. John Curran and will join Hexagon's Radar & Monitoring Division – [Business Wire](https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20261008862698/en/TA-Portfolio-Company-Rocscience-to-be-Acquired-by-Hexagon?ref=theinvestorsociety.com).

**SpaceX / Grain Management (US)** – about $8B, acquisition of nationwide 800 MHz low-band spectrum from the investment firm, subject to FCC approval. Neither company disclosed terms, and the Wall Street Journal reported the cash price. **Ethiqly / Carnegie Learning (US)** – undisclosed amount, acquisition of an AI writing platform built with design firm IDEO, sold by Owl Ventures and management. Carnegie Learning plans to pair it with its Lenses on Literature program for grades 6 to 12\. **Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL)** – earnings, airlines. Delta missed estimates for the first time in two years and cut its 2026 adjusted EPS outlook to $5.10 to $5.60 from $6.50 to $7.50\. **Humana (NYSE: HUM)** – ratings catalyst, health insurance. Shares jumped about 13% after CMS restored the company's flagship Medicare Advantage contract to 4 stars from 3.5\. **Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL), Skyworks (Nasdaq: SWKS) and HP (NYSE: HPQ) – supply chain, consumer hardware.** Apple fell about 2.2% premarket after Nikkei reported component order cuts of 15% to 20% for October, and Skyworks dropped 6.41% on reports tied to iPhone 18 Pro orders.
