Siigo, a Colombian accounting and business software company backed by U.S. private equity firm Accel-KKR, announced on October 2, 2026, that it has acquired Bsale, a Chilean cloud platform that helps small businesses manage sales, invoicing, inventory and point of sale across physical stores and e-commerce. The price was not disclosed. Alongside the deal, Siigo said it will invest US$100 million over the coming years to strengthen Bsale, enter new Latin American markets and build AI tools that automate sales and administrative tasks. David Ortiz, CEO of Siigo Latam, said the goal is to double Bsale's size in the next few years.

Bsale was founded in 2006 by siblings Gustavo and Elvira Montero and operates in Chile, Mexico and Peru, serving thousands of businesses. Chilean outlet Chócale also lists Esteban Téllez and Jorge Navia among its founders. Current customers will keep their existing support and gradually gain access to Siigo's accounting, payroll and administrative tools. With the deal, Siigo operates in Colombia, Ecuador, Uruguay, Peru, Mexico and Chile, with more than 4,500 employees and about 1.3 million small businesses and accountants as users.

## Market Context

The purchase continues a regional buying spree. Siigo, founded in Bogotá in 1988, acquired Mexico's Aspel in 2022 with a planned US$20 million investment, and entered Chile in 2025 by buying software firm Kame, where it committed US$6 million. In July 2026 it secured US$103.5 million in financing from Banco de Occidente and international lenders to strengthen liquidity and accelerate new products. The company says it reinvests more than 20% of revenue in product development.

The strategy reflects a wider trend in small business software: companies want one platform for selling, billing and keeping the books, instead of separate tools that do not talk to each other. In much of Latin America, mandatory electronic invoicing has pushed millions of small firms to adopt software, creating a large but fragmented market. Owning both the sales tool and the accounting system lets Siigo capture more of each customer's spending and reach businesses through the accountants who already use its products.

## Key Signal

> "With this deal, we reach leadership in sales software in Chile and consolidate our leadership across the region with a complete offering of accounting and administrative software." David Ortiz, CEO, Siigo Latam

## Regional Relevance

For the United States, the deal shows how U.S. private equity is building regional software champions in Latin America. Accel-KKR, based in Menlo Park, California, specializes in buying and growing midmarket software companies, and Siigo has become its platform for consolidating SME software across the region. It is a familiar U.S. buyout playbook, buying smaller players and selling more products to the same customers, now applied to a market of millions of small businesses that are still digitizing.

For Chile and the region, the acquisition consolidates a crowded local market. Bsale is one of Chile's best-known sales tools for small merchants, and its combination with Kame gives Siigo a strong position in a country where small businesses handle invoicing and tax reporting through digital systems. For Colombia, it confirms Siigo as one of the few local tech companies acquiring across borders, with Chile, Mexico and Peru now part of a single operation.

## The Other Side

**Where does the US$100 million come from, and over how long?** Siigo did not say whether the investment will be funded from cash flow, its July financing or new capital from Accel-KKR, nor over how many years it will be spent. Without a timeline, the figure is hard to measure against results.

**Will integration help or hurt Bsale's customers?** Bsale users are promised the same support, but moving customers onto a larger platform often brings price changes, product overlap with Kame and the risk that small merchants feel less attended. Retention through the transition will be key.

**How much of the "leadership" claim is verifiable?** Siigo describes itself as the leader in sales software in Chile, but neither company has disclosed revenue, Bsale's exact customer count or market share data. The claim comes from the companies, not from independent figures.
