Tractian, an industrial AI company founded in Brazil and now headquartered in Atlanta, raised US$130 million in a Series D round at a US$1.4 billion valuation, announced on October 22, 2026\. Sapphire Ventures led the round, with Catalyst, the growth equity arm of U.K. asset manager M&G, as co-lead. N47, General Catalyst, Bosch Ventures, 53 Stations, Monashees, Endeavor Catalyst, Norte Ventures and Y Combinator also took part. Sapphire also led Tractian's US$120 million Series C in late 2024\. The company was founded in 2019 by CEO Igor Marinelli and Gabriel Lameirinhas, and its CTO is JP Voltani.

Tractian sells sensors that attach to motors, pumps and other industrial equipment, plus software and AI agents that diagnose problems, find root causes and recommend maintenance before a machine breaks down. Its platform runs in more than 2,000 facilities, including operations of Eli Lilly, Coca-Cola, Whirlpool, Cummins and Embraer. Annualized revenue passed US$100 million in September, up from about US$40 million in 2024, with roughly half coming from outside Brazil, mainly the U.S. and Mexico. The company has more than 700 employees and offices in São Paulo, Monterrey and Poland. The money will fund five years of research and development in "physical AI," including training its own models and buying Nvidia processors, along with expansion in the U.S. and Europe. Marinelli expects Tractian to be cash-flow positive before the end of 2027.

## Market Context

Tractian's valuation roughly doubled in under two years. Bloomberg Línea puts the Series C valuation at US$720 million, which makes this a jump of about 94%. Tractian is the second AI unicorn with Brazilian roots in 2026, after legal tech company Enter reached US$1.2 billion in May with a US$100 million round from Founders Fund. Its edge, according to the company, is data: years of readings from sensors on real machines, which Voltani describes as hard for rivals to replicate.

The round also fits a broader shift in AI spending from software toward the physical economy. Sapphire partner Anders Ranum said the AI boom is "driving a huge buildout of physical infrastructure," and Tractian now counts data centers and utilities among its target customers, not just factories. In August, Brazil's development bank BNDES granted the company R$120.1 million (about US$22 million) to develop robotic inspection assistants for industrial plants.

## Regional Relevance

For the United States, Tractian shows how AI is moving into the plants, warehouses and data centers that support reshoring and the AI buildout itself. About half of its revenue already comes from outside Brazil, and Atlanta, where it moved its headquarters from the Bay Area to be closer to industrial customers, gains a new unicorn. Unplanned equipment downtime is a costly problem for U.S. manufacturers, and a tool that warns before a machine fails speaks directly to that.

For Brazil and Latin America, the deal is proof that a company built in the region can lead a global category in industrial technology, not only in fintech or e-commerce. Tractian keeps its R&D and sensor manufacturing hub in São Paulo and serves local heavyweights such as Suzano and Dexco, so part of the value stays at home. Its Monterrey office also places it close to Mexico's nearshoring boom, where new factories need exactly this kind of maintenance tool.

## The Other Side

**How much of the growth is Brazil, and how much is real global traction?** Tractian says about half of its revenue comes from outside Brazil, but it has not broken down how much is the U.S. versus Mexico. Competing in the U.S. means facing established players such as Augury and industrial giants with their own monitoring tools.

**Can a hardware business stay capital efficient?** Selling sensors and training AI models both cost money, and the company plans to spend heavily on Nvidia chips. Profitability is a target for 2027, not a fact today, and margins were not disclosed.

**Which numbers can readers trust?** Coverage differs on several basics. Outlets list 1,000 or 2,000 facilities, a Series C valuation of US$650 million to US$720 million, and different co-founder names. The revenue figures also come from the company, not audited filings.
