Hi, and welcome to a new edition of [The Daily Dealflow](https://www.theinvestorsociety.com/tag/the-daily-dealflow/) — the 5-minute briefing that gives you clear context on capital flows and market-moving trends across the Americas, from Silicon Valley to Buenos Aires. Let's dive in.

## 🏆 Deal of the Day

Crusoe, the AI-infrastructure company that started out capturing wasted natural gas to power crypto-mining rigs, closed a funding round of more than $3 billion at a $30 billion valuation — tripling its worth from just $10 billion ten months ago. The round, led by Atreides Management and Valor Equity Partners with Mubadala Capital also participating, lands right after Crusoe signed a new $13 billion, five-year deal to supply GPU and AI infrastructure to quantitative trading giant Jane Street – [Bloomberg](https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2026-09-03/crusoe-raises-over-3-billion-in-funding-at-30-billion-valuation?ref=theinvestorsociety.com).

**Why This?:** The AI infrastructure gold rush has moved past chips and models into raw power and data-center capacity — and that investors are writing nine-figure checks against future contracts as much as current revenue, a dynamic playing out from Texas to Wall Street's trading floors.

**Positive Context:**

- Crusoe's valuation has tripled in under a year, propelled by marquee customers Meta, Microsoft and OpenAI plus the fresh Jane Street cloud contract, and the company is reportedly already meeting with Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley about a near-term IPO.
- The round underscores just how much capital is chasing AI power infrastructure broadly — Meta, Amazon and Nvidia have each raised tens of billions of dollars in debt this year alone to fund the same data-center buildout Crusoe is racing to win.

**Yes, but:**

- Crusoe's ascent rests on turning signed contracts into physical, running data centers fast enough to keep up — the same debt-fueled infrastructure race that some analysts compare to dot-com-era spending, warning of a brutal downturn if demand doesn't arrive on schedule.
- The company's own history is a reminder of how fast AI narratives can pivot: Crusoe only sold off its original bitcoin-mining business last year, meaning its entire current valuation rests on a build-out that's barely gotten started.

**Zoom in:** Crusoe was founded in 2018 to burn otherwise-wasted natural gas flared at oil fields to power bitcoin-mining rigs — eight years and one crypto divestiture later, that same "waste-to-watts" pitch is now bankrolling GPU campuses for OpenAI and Oracle in Abilene, Texas.

> **The comment:* *"That gap is the story to watch: whether Crusoe can turn paper contracts into running data centres faster than the AI compute crunch closes, or whether it ends up another cautionary tale about capital outrunning concrete,"* wrote Abhinaya Prabhu in* [*Tech Funding News*](https://techfundingnews.com/crusoe-raises-3b-at-30b-valuation-after-landing-13b-jane-street-deal/?ref=theinvestorsociety.com)*.*

## 💰 Venture Capital

**AIR (US)** – $50M, Seed, a firewall-style platform that vets and certifies the skills and add-ons enterprise AI agents plug into, screening for malicious instructions and supply-chain risk before agents reach production, in a round led by Sequoia Capital and Greenoaks with Swish Ventures and Netz also participating. Founded by Yair Saban and Niv Hoffman, the six-month-old startup emerged from stealth with angel backing from former U.S. deputy national security adviser Anne Neuberger — a pedigree that suggests AI agents now need bodyguards as much as they need better prompts – [FinSMEs](https://www.finsmes.com/2026/09/air-raises-50m-in-funding.html?ref=theinvestorsociety.com).

**Doroth (Brazil)** – US$4.5M, strategic deeptech round for portable lab-on-a-chip crop, food and livestock diagnostics. Rodrigo Gurdos founded the company; Loccus led, with Finep and Fapesp providing non-dilutive support. Doroth aims to build Latin America’s first microfluidic-chip plant, targeting 4M chips annually—less waiting room, more field result – [The Investor Society](https://www.theinvestorsociety.com/doroth-raises-us-4-5-million-to-build-latin-americas-first-microfluidic-chip-plant-and-cut-crop-diagnostics-to-minutes/).

**Newlight (US)** – $9M, Seed, hydrogen-injection retrofit kits that cut fuel use and emissions by more than 20% on commercial cargo ships without replacing the engine, in a round backed by lomarlabs, BIRD Energy, Undeterred Capital, CiRi Ventures and Fusion VC. Founded by Haran Cohen Hillel and Evyatar Cohen, the startup just proved the tech on an 8,500-nautical-mile voyage — a rare case of climate tech getting validated at sea instead of in a slide deck – [FinSMEs](https://www.finsmes.com/2026/09/newlight-raises-9m-in-seed-funding.html?ref=theinvestorsociety.com).

**Elucid (US)** – $55M, Series D, AI cardiovascular imaging software that turns a routine CT scan into a detailed map of arterial plaque risk, sparing patients more invasive testing, in an oversubscribed round backed by IAG Capital Partners, Elevage Medical Technologies (Patient Square Capital) and an undisclosed strategic medical-device company. Led by CEO Kelly Huang, the Boston-based company says its "Plaque-IQ" tool is the only FDA-cleared plaque-AI software validated directly against tissue pathology, pushing total funding to roughly $185M – [HIT Consultant](https://hitconsultant.net/2026/09/02/elucid-raises-55m-series-d-ai-plaque-iq-biointegrated-ffr-ct-cardiovascular-diagnostics/?ref=theinvestorsociety.com).

**Plenti (Colombia)** – US$3M, Seed, multicurrency fintech for holding digital dollars, investing in fractional US stocks and spending via Visa card. Sebastián Correa, Nicolás Zuleta and Martín Peláez founded it; Tether led alongside Verda Ventures and Platanus Ventures. Its 150,000 users already move US$3.1B annually—tiny round, very large rails – [The Investor Society](https://www.theinvestorsociety.com/tether-backs-colombias-plenti-with-us-3-million-to-take-its-digital-dollar-account-into-peru-and-bolivia/).

The United States is home to thousands of data centers. They are part of the infrastructure that powers many digital services, including email, gaming, streaming, social media, and, increasingly, artificial intelligence (AI). As this chart shows, between 2018 and 2022, spending on building data centers in the US hovered between $500 million and $1 billion per month (when adjusted for inflation). But since late 2022, large investments in AI have led to a rapid growth in data center construction — both by expanding existing facilities and building new, larger ones. The latest figures released by the US Census Bureau estimate that $4.4 billion was spent in June 2026 alone — a 5-fold increase compared to November 2022, when ChatGPT was released by OpenAI. These figures cover privately-funded construction and represent only the money spent on building the actual facilities, including materials and construction labor. They don’t include the cost of IT hardware like servers and storage, which can represent a very large share of total investment. Source: Our World in Data.

## 🏛️ Private Equity

**Resect AI (US)** – US$25M, private-equity-backed launch, AI accountability software designed to intervene during LLM generation rather than flag hallucinations afterward. Kevin Owens co-founded and leads the Washougal, Washington-based company; Tim Walton is chief AI officer. Its investors remain unnamed—an unusual opacity for a business selling trust – [The Investor Society](https://www.theinvestorsociety.com/resect-ai-launches-with-us-25-million-to-stop-llm-hallucinations-inside-the-model-instead-of-catching-them-after-the-fact/).

**Vertiv–Utility Innovation Group (US)** – $1.45B upfront cash plus up to $1.15B in earnouts, acquisition, data-center power giant Vertiv (NYSE: VRT) is buying UIG's microgrid, onsite-generation and energy-storage business to help data-center customers generate their own power instead of waiting on the grid. The deal values UIG at roughly 13x its expected 2027 EBITDA, with Vertiv CEO Gio Albertazzi effectively betting that AI data centers will need to become their own power plants — UIG founder Sidney Hinton stays on to run the unit – [StockTitan](https://www.stocktitan.net/sec-filings/VRT/8-k-vertiv-holdings-co-reports-material-event-694bfe7b18b9.html?ref=theinvestorsociety.com).

**Alymente (Brazil)** – 100% acquisition, corporate-benefits platform bought by C6 Bank to enter Brazil’s US$29B meal-voucher market. Founder André Purri will lead C6 Benefícios; JPMorgan-backed C6 gains 100,000 beneficiaries and 1,200 corporate clients. The prize is not lunch cards—it is payroll-linked corporate banking – [The Investor Society](https://www.theinvestorsociety.com/c6-bank-buys-alymente-to-enter-brazils-us-29-billion-meal-voucher-market/).

**Axtel (Mexico)** – competing acquisition bids, Mexican telecom and fiber player Axtel has become the target of a bidding war between Flō Networks, led by CEO Miguel Fernández, and 4TechPlus, backed by businessman Tomás Milmo Santos, with each vying for up to 100% of the company's shares. The tug-of-war — which still needs sign-off from Mexico's banking and antitrust regulators — shows how much value investors now place on fiber infrastructure as AI and streaming push data traffic higher across the country – [Expansión](https://expansion.mx/empresas/2026/09/01/flo-networks-adquirir-axtel-propuesta-compra-tomas-milmo?ref=theinvestorsociety.com).

**Equity Bancshares–Lincoln Bancorp (US)** – roughly $123.8M, merger (77.5% stock / 22.5% cash), Kansas-based Equity Bancshares is absorbing Iowa's Lincoln Savings Bank, a 124-year-old community lender, adding 16 branches in its 27th acquisition since 2002\. CEOs Brad Elliott and Sean Willett framed it as scale-building in small-town banking — proof that even in the age of neobanks, some of the best M&A stories are still about buying up century-old Main Street institutions one state at a time – [Business Wire](https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20260903672534/en/Equity-Bancshares-Inc.-and-Lincoln-Bancorp-Announce-Plans-to-Merge?ref=theinvestorsociety.com).

**The Klass Company (Mexico)** – Acquisition, Chicago's Tootsie Roll Industries bought the Mexican confectionery maker behind the Winis gummy-candy brand, folding it into its existing Tutsi Pop lineup south of the border. The deal — closed through Tootsie Roll's Mexican subsidiary — pairs a 129-year-old American candy company with a business built from a family confectionery shop founded in 1984, giving Tootsie Roll a bigger foothold in one of Latin America's largest candy markets – [El CEO](https://elceo.com/negocios/tootsie-roll-industries-adquiere-the-klass-en-mexico-winis-se-une-al-portafolio-de-tutsi-pop/?ref=theinvestorsociety.com).

**GoPro–Starman Optical (US)** – $285M, merger, the struggling action-camera maker is merging with AI-optics company Starman Optical and pivoting toward AI data-center components, in a deal that eliminates GoPro's $92M in debt and leaves legacy shareholders holding about 10% of the combined, still-public company. The timing is almost cinematic: YouTuber Markiplier had quietly built an 8.5% stake in GoPro just before the announcement, helping fuel a two-day, 101% stock spike that turned a camera company's near-death spiral into an overnight AI-pivot story – [TechCrunch](https://techcrunch.com/2026/09/01/gopro-stock-ai-data-centers.html?ref=theinvestorsociety.com).

**FSC Bancshares (US)** – Completed merger, Missouri's Hawthorn Bancshares folded in FSC Bancshares, parent of Farmers State Bank in Cameron, creating a combined bank with about $2.2B in assets. CEO Brent Giles now has until the first quarter of 2027 to finish converting core banking systems — a reminder that most of America's bank M&A isn't billion-dollar headline fodder, it's steady, unglamorous roll-ups of small-town lenders – [StockTitan](https://www.stocktitan.net/news/HWBK/hawthorn-bancshares-inc-completes-merger-with-fsc-bancshares-jisb4fkc0rj9.html?ref=theinvestorsociety.com).

## 📈 Public & Capital Markets

Opening Market Figures, Mon 07 Sep, 2026.

**US equity markets (US)** – benchmark index move, the Dow fell roughly 300 points and the S&P 500 slipped 0.42% (the Nasdaq eked out a 0.09% gain) after August payrolls came in nearly triple expectations at 162,000 new jobs, pushing the 2-year Treasury yield to a fresh 52-week high of 4.374%. The strong labor data cuts against hopes for a September rate cut and hit growth stocks hardest, with Lululemon (-18%) and Guidewire Software (-22%) among the session's biggest casualties – [TheStreet](https://www.thestreet.com/stock-market-today/stock-market-today-dow-jones-sp-500-nasdaq-updates-sept-04-2026?ref=theinvestorsociety.com).

**Dell Technologies (US, NYSE: DELL)** – Q2 earnings beat, the PC and server maker's stock jumped nearly 16% after revenue climbed 58% and adjusted EPS surged 203%, driven by AI-optimized server sales that doubled year-over-year to $16.4B and pushed its backlog to a record $95B. Dell raised its full-year guidance to 69% sales growth and 148% adjusted-EPS growth — a remarkable reversal for a stock still often thought of as a boring PC brand, up nearly 4,000% since its 2016 re-IPO – [The Motley Fool](https://www.fool.com/coverage/stock-market-today/2026/09/02/stock-market-today-sept-2-dell-surges-16-on-soaring-ai-backlog/?ref=theinvestorsociety.com).

**Broadcom (US, Nasdaq: AVGO)** – Q3 earnings beat, shares fell 6.3% despite revenue of $29.6B and AI revenue jumping 221% to $16.7B, because the chipmaker's fourth-quarter guidance of roughly $34.8B came in just under Wall Street's $35B-plus expectations. The sell-the-news reaction looks harsh for a company guiding AI revenue to nearly triple to $21.7B and generating $13.7B in free cash flow, trading at 61x earnings against an expected 60% growth rate — proof that in this market, "great" isn't always good enough – [The Motley Fool](https://www.fool.com/investing/2026/09/03/why-broadcom-stock-dropped-today/?ref=theinvestorsociety.com).
