Invoices Into Cash, In 24 Hours
Hi, and welcome to a new edition of The Daily Dealflow β the 5-minute briefing that gives you clear context on capital flows and market-moving trends across the Americas, from Silicon Valley's garages to Buenos Aires' cafΓ©s. Let's dive in.
π Deal of the Day
Salvadoran fintech Γbaco Technologies closed a $53M capital structure β a $50M credit facility from Accial Capital and Guatemala-based Pomona Impact, plus a seed round from regional VCs β which it calls the largest fintech capital raise in Central American history.
Why This?: It's proof that global institutional capital is backing Central American fintech infrastructure, a template other founders in the region can now point to.
Positive Context:
- The deal uses El Salvador's digital-asset law (LEAD) to structure tokenized collateral, one of the first such structures in the region.
- Γbaco says 69% of the SMEs it financed hired at least one extra employee within three months of receiving credit.
Yes, but:
- $50M of the $53M is debt, not equity β leverage that must be repaid regardless of how factoring volumes perform.
- Central American SME lending is thin and slow-moving; scaling to $350M in originations within 24 months is an aggressive bet.
Zoom in: El Salvador's Ministry of Economy and the IDB's BID Lab directly accompanied the structuring process, an unusual instance of public-sector involvement in a private fintech's capital raise.
"It's a sign that from Central America it's possible to build companies capable of attracting world-class institutional capital," said Alejandro McCormack, Γbaco's co-founder and CEO, per Bloomberg LΓnea.
