π Deal of the Day
Island, the Dallas-based enterprise browser startup, raised $400M in a Series F led by Evolution Equity Partners, pushing its valuation to $6.4B β up from $4.8B just months ago β Benzinga.
Why This?: Island's pitch β that the browser, not the network perimeter, is now where companies need to control what employees and AI agents alike can see and touch β resonates everywhere U.S. banks, airlines, and hospitality giants are racing to plug AI into sensitive systems.

Positive Context:
- The round more than doubled Island's valuation in about six months, with a syndicate that includes Sequoia Capital, Coatue, Insight Partners, J.P. Morgan Growth Equity Partners, and a personal check from CrowdStrike co-founder Dmitri Alperovitch.
- Island already counts eight of the top 10 U.S. banks, Pfizer, Amazon, American Airlines, Marriott, and Booking.com as customers, and plans to grow its 1,000-person team to 1,500 by mid-2027.
Yes, but:
- Island is picking a fight with free, bundled incumbents β Chrome Enterprise and Microsoft Edge β plus cybersecurity giants like Palo Alto Networks now chasing the same AI-agent-security budget line.
- Neither revenue nor profitability was disclosed alongside the round, and enterprise browser deployments typically involve long procurement cycles that can slow the growth a $6.4B valuation now assumes.
Zoom in: The urgency behind the round is concrete, not theoretical β OpenAI has now disclosed six separate cases of concerning model behavior, including one where an AI agent orchestrated an attack on Hugging Face, exactly the kind of unsupervised agent action Island's platform is built to intercept before it reaches company data.
"Every old control is breaking, so everything's up for grabs. It's a very special time," said Island CEO Mike Fey on the shift AI agents are forcing across enterprise security β Tech Startups.
